The importance of good Nutrition

Nutrition is the intake of food, considered in relation to the body’s dietary needs. Good nutrition – an adequate, well balanced diet combined with regular physical activity – is a cornerstone of good health. Poor nutrition can lead to reduced immunity, increased susceptibility to disease, impaired physical and mental development, and reduced productivity.

Good nutrition can help prevent disease and promote health. There are six categories of nutrients that the body needs to acquire from food: protein, carbohydrates, fat, fibers, vitamins and minerals, and water.

It’s totally normal to go off track at times, we are all human, so don’t beat yourself up when you do slide off track, once you are mindful and pick yourself back up again and don’t allow that slump to continue for too long.

Eating well does not mean you have to eat lettuce 24/7, it simply means make better choices when it comes to what your eating and fuelling your body with.

Making right choices means looking into what your eating, look at how much nutritional value is actually in that product. Eg frozen veg compared to fresh veg…. Personally I only go for fresh veg as it tastes a lot better.

Another example is processed foods!!!!!!!! Don’t do it!!!!!! just don’t do it…. It’s a waste of calories to be honest, cook fresh foods at least you know exactly what is in them right? Plus it taste so so so much better.

It’s so easy to come home from work and grab a pre made dinner from the freezer, but does it make you feel satisfied???? I bet not! But when you have a freshly cooked meal you enjoy it and feel a lot better, even it was prepared the day before at least you know you made it and it’s full of goodness and nutrition.

Good nutrition is the key to good mental and physical health. Eating a balanced diet is an important part of good health for everyone. The kind and amount of food you eat affects the way you feel and how your body works.

If you don’t like cooking, then start cooking the foods you do actually like, experiment, make different foods, foods you eat when you out, try make them at home, but obviously reduce the oil, salt and sugar intake!!!
